Words, but out loud
My novel Incursion is in the querying stage. For those who aren’t aware, that’s when you contact literary agents and try to convince them to take on you and your book. It is a maddening process, as I’ve mentioned previously, and I keep trying to find some way to stand out from the crowd.
A few months ago, I contacted talented voice actor Christopher Tester and asked him to narrate the first two chapters of my book, hoping that, by including an audio recording of the text with my pitch, I could differentiate myself from others in a positive way.
Since then I’ve received great feedback on the opening of my novel and it has changed considerably (most notably, the third chapter is now the first). Unfortunately, this means that Christopher’s narration is of a now out of date text.
Christopher did great work, and I’m still proud of my writing here. Rather than let it go to waste, I thought I’d share it today. The same events (with changes to the framing and an increased focus on the protagonist’s emotional response) occur in the book as it presently is.
I hope you enjoy.
